Digital Intelligence of Power Facilities: Training on GE Speedtronic Mark VI Control System

In modern power engineering, the reliability of equipment depends not only on mechanical quality, but also on the efficiency of digital control. Understanding this, the VANCOSTA engineering team underwent specialized training at the Baker Hughes Training Academy (Florence, Italy) on working with the GE Speedtronic Mark VI digital platform.

This system is the gold standard in the industry, providing comprehensive control, protection and monitoring of gas turbine plants. The platform performs critical functions:

  • Precision regulation: Controls fuel supply and combustion modes to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Integrated monitoring: Functions as a full-fledged distributed control system (DCS) for the entire power plant, including auxiliary equipment.
  • High adaptability: Due to its architecture, Mark VI is widely used not only by Baker Hughes (in particular for the LT12, LT16 series turbines), but also by other world leaders in power equipment.

Knowledge of the GE Speedtronic Mark VI architecture allows VANCOSTA specialists to provide high-quality technical support for equipment already in operation in Ukraine. This applies to both heavy-duty turbines (Frame 3, Frame 5), which are critical for the energy industry and gas transportation system, and aviation gas turbine plants (GE Vernova LM2500/TM2500), known for their compactness and speed of reaching operating parameters.

High-quality configuration and programming of the control system form a reliable interface between service support and the Customer’s operational services. Having mastered the skills of debugging and maintaining Mark VI, VANCOSTA engineers will ensure:

  • Minimization of downtime risks due to a deep understanding of the system logic.
  • Optimization of turbine operating parameters throughout the entire service life.
  • Seamless integration of the station into automated power grids.

Continuous development of competencies in cooperation with world-class manufacturers is our way of guaranteeing the energy stability of the facilities we create.
